Now that the boys are back in school, I’ve been busy fixing things up around the house. The 12YO is getting his own room (finally), so I’m moving furniture around and building shelves and painting rooms. I’m cleaning and reorganizing the basement while trying to locate the tools I need and find paint that’s still usable after a rusty decade. I’m also preparing for yet another giant yard sale this weekend. Apparently I wasn’t ruthless enough with my last culling in the spring.
I’m getting my shit together, people!
The other thing I’m doing is looking for a job. Preferably something part-time that will allow me to continue my volunteer stuff with the public schools by day and work on writing projects at night. Preferably not during the dinner hours. And conveniently located within a 5- to 10-mile radius. I know, I know, what a diva. So many demands for someone who hasn’t held a steady job in 12 years. But if you have any local leads, send them my way.
In the meantime, I have lots to tell you, including my experiments with wild meats (think bison, wild boar, elk), a recipe for sweet corn ice cream, my trip to Moody’s Backroom, and some simple garden recipes. But for now all of these stories are still locked in my brain. I’m hoping to have some computer time this week, but, if not, certainly next week. Hope everyone’s enjoying the sunshine and these beautifully cool fall nights.
