it was fortunate that the raspberries were not quite ripe before i left, or there might not have been any left! that looks super delicious!

For what it's worth, a paperclip is a good cherry pitter. Unfold it so that you have two narrow hooks. Poke one hook into the stem end of the cherry and pop out the pit. (You'll still need the apron.)

Holly: Great tip! Thanks for sharing. I shan't be replacing my cherry pitter anytime soon, then.

snippyscissors: I believe it! The park's black raspberries were weird this year. The ones on the right of the path up the hill were totally dry and seedy. The ones on the left were much better. The drainage must be different.
