I saw this photo on Pinterest and was immediately smitten. A wedding cake? Made out of cheese? Maybe even local cheese? How utterly brilliant!!
This one was made by Formaggi Ocello in Sydney, Australia, but I wondered if the cheesemongers at nearby Formaggio Kitchen or South End Formaggio ever did this. Turns out, they do. Keep this in mind, blushing brides (and grooms).
It's enough to make you want to get married all over again!

Maybe this could work for the wedding cake you have to make for the fall? :)

Udderly brilliant!

Mom: Indeed!
Amy: That's how I came across it--by searching for "wedding cakes that require no skill to pull off!"

I hanker for a hunk of cheese.

We had one of these at our wedding (although smaller!) and it was a great success, very popular. Another one I have seen (but I suspect this would only work in UK, frankly) is one made of pork pies. The joy of this being you actually don't have to provide any other food ... Type 'Pork Pie wedding cakes' into Google and be amazed :-)

SarahC: Wow, I just googled pork pie wedding cakes and I am highly amused (and a little hungry). They are porktastic! http://poptasticbride.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/pork-pie-wedding-cake.jpg
I'm so glad to know about this little piece of regional culinary trivia!!
Husband: I can make a tiny little wedding cake with the cheddar and mozzarella from the fridge! (I can see your eyes rolling from all the way over here.)

A wedding cake made out of cheese?! Sounds like my dream come true. I have never seen anything like this. Love the post!
