My god, the cherries I got at Russo's the other day were so amazing, the house is literally strewn with pits and stems. I have half a mind to brave the hoards during peak shopping hours just to get some more. Then maybe I'll make some of this Cherry Bounce from The Runaway Spoon: sweet cherries preserved in bourbon for later use in holiday cocktails and possible fruitcake soaks. Doesn't that sound good? That's IF there are any left. I'm quickly closing in on the bottom of the bowl!

I have long intended to make REAL chocolate dipped cherries - soak the cherries in brandy for months, then drain, dry, dip in fondant, dip quickly in dark chocolate, and let sit a few days so the cherry/brandy juice liquefies the fondant into a creamy gooey mess. But then every time I buy cherries, I eat them all so quickly my dream is shattered, again and again. Sigh.
