Remember the awesomeness that was the Eat Local Challenge back in October? Well, not too long afterwards, an Associated Press reporter interviewed me about the experience (along with Jen Maiser), and the product of those conversations is now up in a few different places through the wire. Here’s a link in case you’re interested in taking a break from the holiday feeding frenzy. You’ll notice that I conveniently left out the part about how I just whined the whole time. Minor detail. Also, I’m almost positive this is the only time I’ll share page space with bluesman B.B. King, however tenuous his link to local-eating might be.

Did you know that Walmart now promotes buying local fresh fruits and vegetables?

It's not a very flattering photo of you and Rich... must say...

Wow, the AP story has been picked up by more than 70 news outlets! Which handily beats your CBS news story, which was picked up by more than 1 (or maybe exactly 1) affiliate in Eugene, Ore. (Too bad they couldn't work a link for your blog in there -- hate the AP so much.)

Geek: That many? Wow. Yeah, these big news outlets never want to include my blog, I've noticed. Blogs are soooooo stupid.
Sis: I don't know, I actually thought my hair looked better than usual. (Unless you're saying I'm the dog.)
ded sisson: I didn't know that about Walmart until I read it in the article. I'm not really sure how that would work, exactly.

and the options were squash, squash or squash
Ah yes. The squash days.
Congratulations on being part of the article.

Hey, very cool!
For you to do such a good job at it in the Northeast is a real achievement.
Then again, there's soy sauce. My downfall.

CC: I would actually argue that soy sauce counts as a spice since it gets used in such small quantities. Fish sauce, too. At least, that's what I might argue next year. Of course, to make so many concessions might go against the spirit of the event.
Melissa: Thanks. I've been enjoying my days of <50% squash.
