Sunday, you got here too fast. Yes, I made the cookies as promised for Cookbook Friday, but YOU try making cookies while re-enacting that vomit scene from Stand by Me. They did not turn out well (though they were blessedly leech-free).
At first glance, the cookies might seem passable. The frosting wasn’t bad. But the family recipe I was testing was called Chocolate Balls. Which means they should, at the very least, be ball-shaped and, I imagine, chocolatey. As you can see from the unfrosted cookies, they're barely even brown. I swear I put chocolate in there.
Anyway, the confusion had to do with how much exactly is two squares worth of chocolate when no other clues (like weight) are provided. I made a guess. I guessed wrong. I think I took the square root instead.
Now I have these vanilla mounds with chocolate frosting and they taste pretty good but they aren’t going to cut it. I have to test the recipe again. I’m sorry. I know this isn’t going to help my case in the forthcoming elections. However, just remember who provided you with cookie recipes every other Friday for at least a month or two. So did everyone else, you say? Well, that’s just grand.
